Manuscript consists of: 1. A commentary on the Śatarudriya or Rudrādhyāya of the Taittirīya-Saṃhitā (iv, 5), f.1-70 (title and name of the author do not occur in the text); 2. Maṇḍalabrāhmaṇa, f.71-78. Winternitz notes that this text is described by C. M. Whish as the ‘Mandala Brahmanah of the Atharva-Vedah’, and that it is identical to Śatapatha Brāhmaṇa x, 5, 2. See also ‘Notices of Sanskrit manuscripts’ by Rajendralala Mitra (Calcutta, 1892 -), No.682, where it is called Maṇḍalabrāhmaṇopaniṣad.

Winternitz notes that an entry on f.70 by Whish, ‘Here ends the Rudra Bhāshyam’ is dated ‘Calicut 1826’. He thinks the MS is probably not much older than this.

Text of the commentary on the Śatarudriya begins: on namas te rudra manyava iti | atha śatarudryahomaḥ | athātaś śatarudryañ juhotīty upakramya eṣotrāgniracito bubhukṣamāṇo rudrarūpeṇāvatiṣṭhati | tasya tarppaṇadevair dvitīyan darśanaṃ | yad vai tac chatarudryañ juhotīty upakramya prajāpatiṃ visrastādityabhiprāyamantrārtthānuguṇyena śrutir bhavet | sa eṣaḥ śataśīrṣāḥ rudraḥ saṃbhavad iti namas te rudra manyava iti raudrāddhyāyaḥ | atra Parameṣṭhina ārṣaṃ | devānāṃ vā prajāpater vā | Aghorasyārṣam iti kecit | ekarudradevatyaḥ | etc.

It ends: antarikṣe loke ye rudrāḥ sthitāḥ tebhyo namaḥ yeṣāṃ rudrāṇāṃ vātaḥ vāyuḥ iṣavaḥ samānam anyat | pṛthivyāṃ bhūloke ye rudrā sthitaḥ [read -āḥ] tebhyo namaḥ yeṣāṃ rudrāṇām annaṃ ātmanaḥ śaṃ icchet śarīraṃ puṣṇāti | adhikaṃ nyūnaṃ vyādhādijagatvena nirūpyate | samānam anyat | evan namostu rudrebhya iti | hariḥ oṃ ||

Text of the Maṇḍalabrāhmaṇa begins: yad etan maṇḍalan tapati tan mahad ukthan tā ṛcas sa ṛcāṃ lokotha yad etad arccir dìpyate tan mahāvratan tāni sāmāni sa sāmnāṃ lokotha ya eṣa etasmin maṇḍale puruṣas sognis tāni yajūṃṣi sa yajuṣāṃ | lokas saiṣā trayyeva vidyā tapati, etc.

It ends: somṛto bhavati mṛtyur hy asyātmā bhavati || 18 || iti maṇḍalabrāhmaṇaṃ saṃpūrṇaṃ || oṃ nuṃ ||
