Malay Manuscripts

Most of the Royal Asiatic Society’s Malay manuscripts came from the collections of Sir Stamford Raffles (1781-1826), William Farquhar (1774-1839) and Sir William Edward Maxwell (1846-1897). They include some of the most important manuscripts on the history of the Malay world. Most of these manuscripts were digitized in partnership with the National Library of Singapore. For further information about this collection, see Indonesian manuscripts in Great Britain (Jakarta: 2014), or contact us.
