[RAS Persian 251] Bustan of Sa’di
The Bustan of Sa’di, richly illuminated by Sultan Mohammed Nur. A manuscript of high quality. Ruled margins covering join of text and paper of margins. Headings in gold on panels filled with illuminated scrolls. Elaborately illuminated initial opening. Broad margins of paper of a variety of colours splashed with gold. Bukhara, probably ca. 1530 CE. Nasta’liq. 149 folios. 14 lines to the page. Size 12 by 7.5 ins. Elaborate red leather Indian binding with stamped decoration and central panels of green velvet. The interiors of the covers also have stamped and painted decoration.
