Biographical history
Christopher Gimson joined the Indian Civil Service in 1911 and spent most of his career in Manipur, India, eventually becoming Political Agent there in 1933. He retired in 1947 and returned to Leicester, where he died in 1975. He was president of the Leicester Literary and Philosophical Society 1955–56.

Letter from Christopher Gimson to William Pettigrew to say that he has written to Stewart to ask when the monograph will be ready. He asks Pettigrew to meet him when in London, and writes that until the papers from Manipur reaches the Society it's difficult to say what the procedure would be for publication.
