Scope and content

Letter from J.D.M. Derrett to Michael Pollock, Librarian, Royal Asiatic Society, to thank him for the material from the Warburg Institute. Derrett comments on what he has learnt from the Fergusson and Burgess book concerning sculptures found in the village of Jamālgarhi including three distinctly Christian scenes. The sculptures had been on display in London in 1880 but have since disappeared. He also comments upon his theory of Christ being recognised as a Bodhisattva, and in a postscript mentions how Turner, Director of SOAS, had doubts about Derrett's 'powers'.
