[South Indian Sanskrit MS 075, Whish MS 75] Gṛhyavṛtti
Gṛhyavṛtti
Language – Sanskrit
Date – [1800?]
Palm leaf; 7 lines on a folio.
Text consists of the Gṛhyavṛtti, a commentary on the Khādira-Gṛhyasūtra or Drāhyāyaṇa-Gṛhyasūtra of the Sāmaveda, by Rudraskandha. It is incomplete, ending at the end of III, 4.
Winternitz notes that there is an entry by C. M. Whish dated ‘December 1828’, but he thinks the manuscript may be about 50 years older.
Text begins: athāto gṛhyākarmmāṇi | athānantaraṃ | kasmād anantaran deva savitar ityādimantravacchākhāddhyayanānantaraṃ yattetta nādhītavedasya mantraparijñānāt vakṣyamāṇeṣu vākyeṣu karmmānuṣṭhānayogyatayā pratipattum aśakyam atas tadanantaram iti gamyate | etc.
The first Paṭala ends (f.36b): pañcamaḥ khaṇḍaḥ || iti Rudraskandhakṛtāyāṃ gṛhyavṛttau prathamaḥ paṭalaḥ ||
The second Paṭala (5 Khaṇḍas) ends f.65.
It breaks off at the end of the 4th Khaṇḍa of the IIIrd Paṭala: sthālīpākasya pūrṇapātraṃ yathotsāhanivṛtyartthaṃ | carutantraprakṛtir ayaṃ homaḥ || tritīyasya paṭalasya caturtthaḥ khaṇḍaḥ || navamīn daśamīṃ vānvaṣṭakyaṃ || hariḥ oṃ || śubham astu | etc.
