Sarvārthacintāmaṇi

Manuscript consists of the following texts: 1. unidentified fragments (ff.1-4); 2. the Sarvārthacintāmaṇi,an astrological treatise, by Veṅkaṭanāyaka, son of Apparyārya, fragment only (ff.1-22); 3. fragment of the first Sarge of the Bālakāṇḍa of Vālmīki’s Rāmāyaṇa (f.23); 4. several unidentified fragments, partly in Sanskrit, partly in Malayalam (ff.23b-129); 5. a Malayalam commentary on the Karaṇapaddhati (astrology?) (ff.1-60).

Winternitz notes that the copy date is given in Malayalam language on f.129.

Text of the Sarvārthacintāmaṇi begins: hariḥ śrīgaṇapataye namaḥ avighnam astu | śrīmaccheṣagiristhale vinilayaṃ śrī-Veṃkiteśaṃ guruṃ natvā Veṃkiṭanāyakas tv anudinaṃ jātopayayāt sudhīḥ etc.

F.22b breaks off with the words: rāhau vilagne sakujerkaputre rāhau bṛhatbījmihāhurāryyāḥ lagne śca + e

Text of the fragment from the Bālakāṇḍa begins (f.23): lokaṃ gamiṣyati idaṃ pavitraṃ pāpaghnaṃ puṇyaṃ vedaiś ca sammitaṃ yaḥ paṭhed rāmacaritaṃ sarvapāpaiḥ pramucyate ……. and ends: – iti śrīrāmāyaṇe ādikāvye śrīyāmadvādikāṇḍe śrīnāradavākye śrīsaṃkṣepo nāma prathamas sarggaḥ || … śrīgaṇapataye namaḥ |
