Manuscript consists of an incomplete copy of the Kaunjarāśanakṣetramāhātmya from the Śatarudriyakoṭisaṃhitā (Vaidikadharmakhaṇḍa) of the Śiva-purāṇa Text begins: śuklāṃbaradharaṃ viṣṇuṃ śaśivarṇaṃ caturbhujaṃ prasannavadanaṃ dhyāyet sarvavighnopaśāntaye | gurave sarvalokānāṃ bhiṣaje bhavarogiṇāṃ | nidhaye sarvavidyānāṃ śrīdakṣiṇāmūrttaye namaḥ || śrīgurubhyo namaḥ || kṛtvā sāṃvatsaraṃ dīkṣāniyamaṃ Maithilo mahān | śuddhavrātyaḥ śuddhamanā niviṣṭo rauravebhavat | tatra bhāgīrathītīre sarvadevasamāśraye sannidhau viśvanāthasya cittaśuddhividhāyake | kevalaṃ cittaśudhyartthaṃ ṛtvikbhiḥ pariveṣṭitaḥ | santyajya sarvakāryāṇi rājyakāryāṇi mantriṣu | nikṣipya khalu medhāvī svasya meddhyatvasiddhaye netrakṛṣṇavināśāya tvagasthyaikatvasiddhaye | ativrāttya[ḥ]s sapadnīkaḥ babhūva kila dīkṣitaḥ | sanāntarika [read satrāntarita?]kāleṣu Maithilas taṃ mahāmuniṃ | teṣān dvijānāṃ purataḥ śrutidharmmān aśeṣataḥ | smārttān paurāṇikāṃś cāpi paripapraccha tatra vai | vaidikāḥ kepi vā dharmmā ye vā paurāṇikāḥ punaḥ | anuṣṭhitais tu tair ddharmmaiḥ phalaṃ kim iti tatvavit | punaś ca paripapraccha śṛnvatsu nikhileṣv ayaṃ | pṛṣṭas tena tathāddhvaryyur Mmaithilo dharmmavittamaḥ | provāca śṛṇu rājendra vakṣyāmy etāni te dvijaḥ | caturbhiś ca cacturbhiś ca dvābhyāṃ pañcabhir eva ca | kriyate yas sa dharmma syād atonyo nāmadhārakaḥ | iti Kārṣṇājiniḥ prāha sa śrīmān brahmavittamaḥ | etc. For colophons for the end of each Adhyāya, see Winternitz catalogue entry.
