Palm leaf; 7 to 8 lines on a folio; wooden boards. Inscription on paper label attached to board: “Mananam (Vedantic treatise) in Malayalam language”. Note inscribed on inside of board: “Exposition of the Vedānta Doctrines, from the Sanskrit – C M Whish”. RAS Whish / South Indian Sanskrit Manuscript Collection. The manuscript is listed in the synoptical list of manuscript numbers (Whish numbers and Winternitz numbers) at the beginning of ’A catalogue of South Indian Sanskrit manuscripts (especially those of the Whish Collection) belonging to the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland’ by M. Winternitz, with an appendix by F. W. Thomas (London: RAS, 1902). Winternitz notes that the manuscript is “not Sanskrit” and there is therefore no entry for it in the catalogue, and no Winternitz number.
