[Photo.34] Photographs of Amaravati
Collection of twenty albumen prints mounted on card, wth captions written in ink beneath prints and all signed ‘R. Sewell’. While the quality of this material (the work of a locally engaged photographer) is not high, and the condition of the prints is generally faded, this is an important series of views recording excavation work at the stupa in 1877. The collection consists photographs of excavated sculptures (prints 1-13) and views of Amaravati and the excavation site (14-20). Published in 1877. Probably presented by Robert Sewel.
